Gurukul Global School won the title of Boys category in the Dev Raj Memorial Invitational Basketball Tournament. At the same time, Sacred Heart School won in the girls category. 16 teams participated in it and this tournament is played in the memory of the father of Gurukul Global School President Mrs. Neena Setia ji. Its purpose is to give the youth a chance to play. Former Punjab DGP Dr. Chandra Shekhar felicitated the players.
Gurukul Global School faced New Public School in the boys' final. The host team maintained the lead and won 72-44. Ujjwal scored the highest 18 points for GGS. Mohit of NPS got 16 points. The third place in this was won by Shamrock School Kaithal. They defeated SD School-32 52-47 in the third position match. Naman of Shamrock School scored 19 points and Gavi of SD-32 contributed 15 points to the victory.
In the girls category, Sacred Heart School won the title. New Public School-18 was the finalist against them. Sacred Heart School team did not let them succeed and won the match and the title with 54-39 points. Samaya scored 21 points for the winning team and Tarannum got 13 points. Third place went to Government School Nandgarh (Haryana). They defeated Sopins School-32 37-30. Vanshika scored 11 points for the Nandgarh team and Vishakha scored 12 points for Sopins.
The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 18,000/-, gold medals, a trophy and certificates. The 1st runner up team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 15,000/-, silver medal and certificate while the 3rd runner up team was awarded Rs. 10,000 cash, bronze medal and certificate respectively. The ‘Best Cagers’ were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1,500 and a trophy and ‘The Upcoming Cagers’ were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1000 and a trophy. International stars of Gurukul Global School Basketball Ravinder Kaushik and Gaurav Kumar Singh were awarded honorary appreciation certificates.
