Gurukul Global School's Director, Mr. Devraj Setya, led a dynamic workshop for teachers on ‘Incorporating Arts in Education’ in the school auditorium. Mr. Setya, who has a distinguished background in performing arts and has worked with celebrated actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, brought his wealth of experience and numerous accolades, including distinction on zonal festivals, to the session. He has formal training in acting from Whistling Woods International and has been involved in several high-profile projects, including the film ‘Jo Dooba So Paar’.
Teachers displayed great enthusiasm throughout the workshop, actively engaging in discussions and activities. Mr. Setya highlighted the role of imagination in creativity and traced the history of art in education, noting the establishment of institutions like the Royal Academy of Arts in London. He discussed the transformation of STEM to STEAM, emphasizing the importance of arts in fostering emotional stability, character building, and cultural awareness.
The workshop also explored the myriad benefits of incorporating arts into education. Mr. Setya explained how arts stimulate imagination, enhance creativity, encourage innovation and promote problem-solving skills. On an academic level, arts education fosters community engagement, inclusivity, communication skills, and teamwork. Socially, it contributes to emotional stability and character building. Involving the complete staff in the Practical activities using everyday items creatively to make learning more engaging and inclusive, he also provided tips to form a strong student-teacher connection and employing instant activities using mind, voice, and body.
