A workshop on Classroom Teaching & Management Strategies was conducted by Mrs. Veenu Gupta at Gurukul Global School, Chandigarh. Mrs Veenu Gupta is an experienced Educator, Curriculum Developer & Educational Consultant. She has been working in the Education & Training industry for more than 15 years. She believes that learning happens every day & we all learn with children & people around us. She is an instructor on Udemy Platform too and has created many courses for pre-primary & primary educators. The workshop was attended by all the teachers teaching the Kindergarten and primary level. It touched upon the use of correct phonics, blending and segmentation of letters. It emphasized that use of facial expressions and hand movements are an important part of Phonic Learning. Mrs. Gupta talked of the Phonic Stages: 1. Learning the letter sounds· 2. Blending· 3. Identifying sounds in word 4. Spelling the tricky words She informed that in Phonics, there are 42 main sounds of English that are taught which are divided in seven groups. A total 42 sounds of different letters were explained by the resource person in an easy and effective way. The teachers learnt from the worshop is- · the actions for each of the 42 letter sounds, · digraphs such as sh, th, ai and ue, · letter formation using different multi-sensory methods, · blending in which the children are taught how to blend the sounds together to read and write new words , · Identifying the sounds in words (Segmenting). · The Art of Storytelling · Circle Time Made Fun · Classroom Teaching & Management Strategies · Lesson Planning · Hands -On Learning This workshop enabled the teachers to learn the technique of teaching children to read and write as early as possible.
